Danielle Hetmanski, CO, LO, Orthotist

 

Danielle graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology, and then went on to receive her Certificate in Orthotics from Northwestern University.  She has been working in the Orthotics field since 2007, and she specializes in pediatrics and spinal cord injury. Prior to her career in O&P, Danielle worked as a Rehabilitation Trainer at the Center for Spinal Cord Injury Recovery in Michigan, but she decided she wanted to be the person who made the braces that made walking after an SCI possible. She joined the team at ABC Prosthetics & Orthotics in April 2012. In her free time she enjoys DIY craft projects, camping, and spending time with family.

Scott Saunders, CPO, LPO, Prosthetist/Orthotist

 

Scott is a Florida Licensed Orthotist/Prosthetist and is certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics.  Scott entered the field in 1989, orginally working as a technician, and then going on to receive his Bachelors of Science Degree from Florida International University in Orthotics & Prosthetics.  After serving as a Regional Branch Manager with another O&P company, Scott founded ABC Prosthetics & Orthotics in 1998.  Scott is C-Leg Certified and has completed course studies in Myoelectrics from Otto Bock, Flex-foot from Ossur, Scoliosis from Charleston Bending Brace, Boston Brace and Spinal Technology, CAD/CAM training from Tracer, and many others.  Scott regularly attends state and national meetings which allows him to stay current with the newest technologies and breakthroughs in treatment.  In his spare time, he enjoys saltwater fishing and spending time with his 3 children.

Jerry Saunders, CO, LO, Orthotist

Jerry orignally attended Rider University and Ocean County Tech in New Jersey. He received his certification in Orthotics in 1988 and is a Licensed Orthotist. Jerry attended Northwestern University for Spinal Certifications and NYU for Pedorthic Certification. He currently manages our Winter Park location, specializing in Pediatric Orthotics. He is certified by Charleston Bending Brace, Boston Brace, and Providence Brace and does extensive work in Scoliosis bracing. He holds many other Certifications in Spine Cor, Sure Step, Gait Biomechanics and Orthotics, Functional Hip & Gait Management, Fracture Casting, E-Mag & Sensor Walk. In his spare time, Jerry enjoys fishing, playing poker, and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Rebeca Rodriguez, C.Ped, L-OFA Pedorthist / Orthotic Fitter Assistant

 

Rebeca has been with ABC since 2010, originally in an administrative position. Because of Rebeca's strong desire to help people, she has continued her education in patient care, and in 2013 became a Florida Licensed Orthotic Fitter Assistant. She recently continued her career path by attending the Foot Solutions Academy of Pedorthics at Kennesaw State University in Georgia in 2014. She completed Pedorthic Observation and Training here at ABC before receiving her Pedorthist License from the Florida Department of Health to officially become a Florida Licensed & ABC Certified Pedorthist (C.Ped). She specializes in working with patients with extensive foot problems and concerns. In her free time, she enjoys staying at home with Taco and Charlie (her fur babies) catering to her indoor plants, listening to live music, road-trips and enjoy a nice full glass of red wine with friends and family.

Karen Stillings, HR Benefits / Financial Manager

Karen recently joined ABC after 20 years in Sales Management / Customer Service positions in the Retail Industry. Karen has earned a few degrees in her lifetime, AS Computer Science, AS Hospitality Tourism Management, and AS Small Business Management. Karen brings her strong knowledge of sales, accounting and business management experience to our financial team. She manages our company’s human resources and benefits, as well as payroll and accounts payable needs. Karen enjoys learning new things and has a strong desire to help others. In her spare time, she volunteers at her local schools. Karen also enjoys spending time with her husband, 2 daughters, and 2 beautiful grandsons as well as their variety of furry family members

Maria Santiago, Fabrication Manager

After graduating high school in Queens, NY, Maria began her studies as a Nursing Assistant.  She relocated to Puerto Rico in 1989, and got married and started a family.  In 2001, after her husband became a Below Knee Amputee, Maria completed studies in Orthotics & Prosthetics at Universidad De Puerto Rico.  She also became certified as an Orthotic Fitter and Mastectomy Fitter.  She worked for an O&P company in Puerto Rico as both a Lead Technician and a Fitter, but decided she loved the challenges of creating and manufacturing in the field the best.  After relocating with her family to Orlando in 2007, Maria joined the team at ABC P&O and quickly became the Fabrication Manager.  Her hobbies are shopping, reading and playing games.  She spends her free time with her family, including her 2 daughters.

Pete Fontan, Purchasing & Inventory​

Originally from Bronx, NY, Pete graduated from Bronx Leadership Academy in 1996 and attended James Monroe College.  After working for 10 years at Bear Stearns in NY, Pete moved to Florida with his family and spent 7 years at Hope Orthopedic in the Manufacturing Department.  Joining ABC Prosthetics & Orthotics in November 2011, Pete handles all the purchasing and inventory for the company.  In his spare time, he enjoys recording music and spending time with his family.

Jorge Somoza, L-ORF, Orthotic Fitter

Jorge is a Florida Licensed Orthotic Fitter and is certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics. Jorge entered the field in 1984 at JK Prosthetics and Orthotics in Mount Vernon, New York where he learned both the clinical and technical aspects of the field. Since moving to Florida he has held the position of clinical manager and fabrication manager in various orthotics and prosthetics facilities. Jorge specializes in pediatric orthotics and is certified by Charleston Bending Brace, Boston Brace, Providence Brace, and many more. In his spare time Jorge enjoys creating military models and spending time with his family.

Stephanie Mullen, Orthotic and Prosthetic Resident

Stephanie is a orthotic resident who has relocated from Michigan. Stephanie graduated from Northwestern University in Chicago with a Masters in Prosthetics & Orthotics. She is currently doing her residency in Orthotics to then move on to her prosthetics residency in June 2019. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband, friends and her dog Duke.

Liz Martinez,  Billing Specialist
 

Liz is originally from Port St. John Florida where she resided with her parents. She graduated from Space Coast High school in 2013 and then when on to Eastern Florida State College where she graduated in 2015. At the age of 19 she became a Pharmacy Tech, which lead her to want to pursue her career in the Medical Field. She then started her career as a Patient Care Coordinator at ABC in 2017 at the Orlando office working alongside her older sister and Pedorthist Rebeca, this is when she decided that she wanted to work more closely with our pediatric patients and because of her love for children she then switched to our Winter Park location as a Patient Care Coordinator. She was newly married in 2018 to her high school sweetheart and long time friend Rafy. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, traveling and reading books.

Karen Santos, Billing Specialist
 

Karen graduated from Everest University in 2013 with a A.S. degree in Medical billing and coding. After she graduated from Everest she went on to work behind the scenes as a Billing specialist for another company. In 2016 Karen was involved in a automobile accident which lead to her thumb being amputated. Because of her newly amputated thumb, she became interested in the O&P field, wanting to learn and get more involved with prosthetics. This is what brought her to us in July of 2017 to join our team as a Prosthetic Patient Care Coordinator. In her free time she enjoys arts and crafts, skating and spending time with her family and friends.

Amber Poling, Orthotic Resident

Amber graduated from St. Petersburg College in 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics.  She received her Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering with specialization in Engineering Management of Orthotics and Prosthetics in 2015.  She was introduced to the field of O&P by an inspiring professor Mrs. Limas who later became her mentor. During her time at SPC, Amber was elected Secretary for the Orthotics and Prosthetics Student Society (OPSS) as well as Treasurer for the Student Government Association (SGA). Her goal in life is to be successful in everything she does while helping as many people as she possibly can.  In her spare time she loves to spend time with loved ones and relax. She has traveled to many countries and will continue to do so in her future.  A few of her favorite vacation spots include Costa Rica, British Virgin Islands, Ireland, and the Greek Islands!

 

Cody Dean, Orthotic Resident

Cody grew up in central VA and attended James Madison University receiving an undergraduate degree in Health Sciences in 2015. After graduating he attended Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine for Orthotics and Prosthetics and received his graduate degree in the spring of 2019. Working in the O and P industry has allowed Cody to combine his creative mindsetand with his passion for helping people. Cody began his orthotic residency with ABC in June of 2019 and will start his prosthetics residency in June of 2020. In his free time Cody enjoys many outdoor activities including hiking,hunting, and fishing

Miriam Rowe, Bookkeeper

Miriam graduated from Rollins College in 1991 with a Bachelors Degree in Economics. Miriam has been doing bookkeeping, small business accounting, financial operations, human resources, office management, and business administration for the past 20 years. She joined the ABC team in May 2013, and in her spare time, enjoys knitting, competitive silhouette rifle shooting, and spending quality time with her husband and her 2 dogs and 3 cats. She also spends time supporting various dog rescues, and serves on the Board of the Doglando Foundation as Secretary.

Juan Correa, Technician

Juan graduated from Luis Hernaiz Verome High School in Puerto Rico in 1988.

In 1996, Juan became a Below Knee Amputee after battling Osteomyelitis.  He later took interest In the field of O&P when he realized he could build and repair his own prosthesis, and he could help other patients recover from the same issues he had.  He joined ABC P&O in 2008 as a Lead Technician in Prosthetics and Orthotics.  Juan's hobbies are fishing, working on cars & playing video games.  He enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters and Shih Tzu, Mimi.

Brandon Jones, Prosthetic and Orthotic Resident

Brandon is our current Prosthetic Resident. He is originally from Columbia Missouri, he got has his Bachelors in Psychology and worked as a Prosthetic Technician for 2 years before attending Northwestern University in Chicago where he then graduated with a Masters in Prosthetics & Orthotics. He had the pleasure of joining Team ABC in June 2018 during ABC's 20th Birthday Bash. He is currently doing his residency in Prosthetics to then move on to his Orthotics residency in June 2019. In his free time he likes auto racing, BBQing, hunting, hanging out with friends and spending time with his wife Carrie and his dog Magnus.

Tina Cassell, Hospital Billing Specialist

Tina is a Native Floridian; she was born right here in Orlando. After graduating from Lake Brantley High School, Tina attended Paul Mitchell School for Cosmetology. Tina worked as a licensed Cosmetologist for 8 years. She became interested in the medical field and ABC after her son became an ABC patient. Tina currently billing claims for the area hospitals. Tina spends her spare time with her husband and two adorable little boys, Alexi & Romeo. Their family also includes two fur-babies.

 

Mercedes Hernandez, Patient Care Coordinator

Mercedes relocated to Florida from Louisiana. Her carrer in the medical field started seven years ago in Pediatrics. Before she started her position as a Patient Care Coordinator at ABC, she worked for Hanger Clinic back in Baton Rouge. Mercedes could not be happier to now be so dedicated to O&P. ABC is happy to welcome her to our team. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and dogs while hanging out at the beach and theme parks. 

Fern Buritica, Office Manager
 

Fern grew up in Port St. John, Florida. Shortly after high school she relocated to Orlando and began her career in the orthotics and prosthetics field in 2008. She attended Valencia College where she earned her Associate’s in Arts Degree. She is currently enrolled in the Business and Organizational Leadership Bachelor’s program at Valencia. She joined Team ABC in 2010 and shortly after became billing manager. Now as office manager she uses her organizational skills to ensure smooth daily operations and administrative functions. She is always planning her next vacation and is a self-proclaimed “travel junkie”

 

Alex Gurrea, Patient Care Coordinator

Alex is originally from Stamford, CT where she was born and grew up along side with her mother. She graduated from Stamford High school in 2014. In high school she volunteered for 3 years in the Stamford Hospital in her town. There she volunteered in different departments such as the labor & birth department and senior care facility that was associated with the hospital. There Alex started pursing a strong desire to helping people and children as she gained much love for. She attended Norwalk Community College and shortly after moved to Orlando, FL. Alex is very happy to be able to be part of the ABC team as she joined in early 2019. She is very dedicated to being a Patient Care Coordinator and providing the best service and attention to each patient that walks through the door. In her free time, Alex enjoys working out, fishing, and spending time with her furry pet and loved ones!

Ashley Correa, Patient Care Coordinator

Ashley was born in Brooklyn NY and raised in Bayamon , PR. She graduated from Ocoee High school in 2013 with hopes of getting into the Medical field. When her father lost his leg below the knee and began wearing a prosthesis, Ashley decided that she wanted to learn more about the O&P field. She started working for ABC in 2017 as a Patient Care Coordinator at out Winter Park location and has gained the knowledge in the field that she always felt was her calling. In her free time she enjoys traveling, being a big sister and being around her family.

Cristy Gonzalez, ​Authorization Specialist

 

Cristy is from Fort Lauderdale, FL and has worked in the medical field since 1980. She originally studied nursing and later completed Massage Therapy School. She worked as a Massage Therapist for 17 years until she made a career move to Practice Manager at an Orthopedic office for 7 years.  After relocating to Central Florida in 2010, she joined the team at ABC.  Cristy enjoys spending her free time with her 3 daughters and her three grandchildren.

Katie Lucas, Mastectomy Fitter and Patient Care Coordinator
 

Katie was born and raised here in Florida. She graduated from DeLand High School in 2009. Katie was born with two birth defects. Her leg was amputated below the knee at ten months old. She has been a patient of Scott’s since she was a year old. She has always told Scott she would work for him one day. Katie began working for ABC in 2015 as a Patient Care Coordinator and in 2016, she took classes to be a Mastectomy Fitter. In her free time she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.

 

 

Andrea Dean, ATC/R, CO, LO, Orthotist

Andrea Dean originally joined the Prosthetic and Orthotic field 2005. She is a graduate of Florida State University, where she earned a BS in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine. Prior to becoming a Certified/Licensed Orthotist, she worked as a Certified Athletic Trainer at the high school level, as well as a Physical Rehabilitation Clinician. Andrea continued her education by attending and completing Northwestern University’s Orthotics Program, and received her certification in Orthotics from the American Board for Certification. She enjoys spending time with each patient and getting to know them a little better in order to provide the most personalized orthotic care. Some of her areas of experience include Emergency Trauma Care, Geriatric Orthotics, Pediatric Clinics, Cranial Remolding, Spinal Stabilization and Fracture Management. In her free time, she enjoys being active with her family and being the best “Soccer Mom” she can be.

Becky Curls, Certified Prothetist and Orthotist

Becky is a Florida Licensed Orthotist/Prosthetist and is certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics.  Becky has known she wanted to be in the O&P field since she was 15 years old. Knowing this, she completed her undergraduate in Exercise Science at The University of North Florida and went on to Northwestern University where she completed certificates in both Prosthetics and Orthotics. She did her prosthetics residency here at ABC and then moved back to Jacksonville, where her husband was, for her orthotics residency. A few years have passed, she has more experience under her belt and she is back with ABC to help grow the company in the Jacksonville area. She strives to bring her passion for the field to every patient and member of their healthcare team. Becky regularly completes continuing education to stay up to date on emerging technologies in the field and bring the best options to her patients. Becky has two young children who occupy most of her "spare" time but she loves traveling and going to the beach with them.
